The Washington PLSS Inspections Unit is introducing a virtual inspection process for all businesses licensed under the cosmetology program. This includes businesses that provide cosmetology, hair design, barbering, esthetics, master esthetics, or manicuring services.
Senate Bill 87 was introduced in January 2021 during this legislative session. The bill sought to exempt from licensure individuals in Utah who shampoo, condition, dry, style, arrange, dress, hot iron, or curl the hair. On March 16, 2021, the governor signed SB 87 into law.
Starting on March 8, 2021, candidates for the Cosmetology written examinations will be able to choose to take a written examination at one of 22 PSI site locations across Texas or take an examination through a virtual online process offered by PSI.
House Bill 2325 has been introduced in West Virginia this legislative session and would impact skin care, hair, and nail professionals as seeks to eliminate continuing education requirements for licensed individuals and would initiate the deregulation of cosmetology.
