Call for Kentucky Board of Massage Therapy Members

The Kentucky Board of Licensure for Massage Therapy (http://bmt.ky.gov/) (the Board) is seeking an applicant to serve a three-year term on the Board. There is currently a vacancy for a licensed massage therapist.

The Board consists of seven members—five must be LMTs, and at least one but no more than two can be owners or directors of a board-approved school. Candidates must be residents of Kentucky for at least one year and have been practicing massage therapy for at least five of the past seven years.

Call for Maryland Board of Massage Therapy Members

The Maryland State Board of Massage Therapy Examiners (https://health.maryland.gov/massage/Pages/home.aspx) (the Board) has requested ABMP to nominate professional members to serve on the Board, and we are now accepting applications from licensed massage therapists. The Board is comprised of seven members, five of which are licensed massage therapists and two of which are consumers. There are currently two vacancies. 

Texas House Bill No. 2847: Digitally Prearranged Services

The Texas Legislature passed House Bill No. 2847 (HB 2847) (https://legiscan.com/TX/text/HB2847/2019) in 2019, allowing certain barbering and cosmetology services to be scheduled through a digital network. The services must be performed by a licensed barber or cosmetologist and performed at a location not licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) as a cosmetology salon or barbershop. The bill added Section 1603.208.
