UPDATE: Governor Justice signed HB 2325 into law on February 21, 2022, removing the requirement for licensed barbers and cosmetologists to complete continuing education. The bill goes into effect May 9, 2022.
House Bill 2325 (HB 2325) was introduced this legislative session and would remove the requirement for licensed barbers and cosmetologists to complete continuing education.
Current rules require all active barbers, cosmetologists, estheticians, nail technicians, and waxing specialists licensed by the West Virginia State Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists to earn a minimum of four continuing education hours annually as a provision of their license renewal. HB 2325 would eliminate this requirement.
