Sure, sounds great! Sign me up! Who doesn’t want to feel like they’re making a positive and meaningful impact on the world?

According to a study by the Corporation for National & Community Service (CNCS), 77.3 million people in the US (about 30 percent of the population) volunteered their time to some sort of charitable organization in 2018, which yielded an estimated economic value of around $167 billion. Those are some pretty hefty numbers.

But where the heck are you supposed to find the time? The hustle for hairstylists is real. Our days are long, our weekends are booked solid, and we’re often already filling our days up with errands and side gigs.

Lack of time is the top reason why most people don’t ever consider volunteering. “Research has shown that while 90 percent of us want to volunteer, only 1 out of 4 Americans actually do,” says Amy Yotopoulos of the Stanford Center on Longevity.

Just imagine the impact we could have as a community— and for our community—if we were able to get that number up to 3 out of 4 Americans? If a lack of free time is the main culprit that’s holding us back from giving back, let's find some easy solutions.
